Ideas Of Distressed Wood Tray

Are you tired of bent over removing clothes from your front load washing machine? Building a distressed wood tray stands to suit your washing machine as an alternative to pedestals that do not fit the budget. Building oneself means you can make them as long as you need. The main factor to consider when building a tray stand is the weight of the tile. Use solid wood for frame and slightly smooth for the top. Plastic laminate works well for a surface on the tile can sit on without chipping into it because it would be plywood.

Instructions

Stand wood tray four of the 15-inch pieces (leg pieces) on their 1 1/2 inch edge and glue the edge. Secure the other four leg pieces to those with 3-inch or screws to form an “L” with two pieces. Clean up excessive glue immediately with a damp cloth. Glue to the ends of the 16 1/2 inch pieces and fasten them between 19 1/2 inch pieces with 3-inch or screws. The result is a 19 1/2 inch square. Put some glue on the inside of the legs at the top and bottom. Secure the boxes at the top and bottom of the legs with 2 1/2 inch or screws. Clean up excessive glue as before.

Spread glue on the outside of the legs on one side of the wood tray frame. Secure one of the 22 1/2 inch plywood to the box with 1 1/2 inch or screws. Repeat this for the opposite side of the box. Clean up excess glue. Turn the box so that the installed pieces on the left and right. Apply glue to the edges of plywood and legs. Secure one of the 24-by-15-inch pieces of plywood with the legs with a 1/2 inch or screws. Repeat this for the other side. Clean up the glue as before.

Stand the box upright. Apply glue to all surfaces and secure 24-by-24-inch pieces on top of the box with 1 1/2 inch or screws.  Clean up the glue. Wide strips on the entire area on top as well as the underside of plastic laminate with brush. Allows it to dry again to close the pores in each. Apply another layer of adhesive to each piece. Allow it to dry until it is tacky when touched. Adjust the edges of the stand and laminate and bond the laminate to the stand. Run your hand all over the surface to ensure good cohesion. Hold a wood file at a 45 degree angle to the edges of the laminate. Move the file in a downward direction to remove the sharp edge from the laminate.

Tips and warnings

Paint the box to match your washing machine. Cut the work piece to a different length if desired. Do not leave power tools within reach of children. Do not apply paint to the tray without proper ventilation.
